Assistant Finance Manager

My client, a leading property investment and development group established for nearly 50 years, are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Finance Manager / Accounts Assistant.
In this role you will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager and your core focus will be the residential development and hospitality side of the business.
You will be responsible for the preparation of the group accounts; ensuring that all finance transactions and activities are recorded, monitored and maintained to ensure the business has strong financial control, whilst always looking at ways to improve processes, procedures and efficiencies.

Your key duties will include:

  • To assist the Finance Manager in preparation of group accounts before they are finalised and sent to auditors
  • Day to day bookkeeping and administration of the accounts for all of the group accounts
  • Perform bank reconciliations for all company bank accounts
  • Handling Payroll
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Completion of trial balances of journals
  • Monitor, maintain and reconcile expenses and credit card transactions
  • Control and monitor service charge and rental invoicing
  • Preparation of management reports for submission
  • Perform credit card reconciliations
  • Support and work in collaboration with the Finance Manager

Skills and experience required:

  • Part Qualified Accountant (Finalist) progressing with and committed to complete their professional studies
  • Understanding of fixed assets/depreciation and nominal ledger journals
  • Knowledge of Accruals and Prepayments reconciliation
  • Highly motivated candidate who is able to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Able to prepare accounts and reconciliations
  • Familiarity with the relevant accounting standards
  • Able to use Finance packages including Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Artisan and Coda with the ability to learn the relevant software used in the department
  • Enthusiastic, reliable and organised with a methodical approach
  • Possess the ability to prioritise work and meet strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy

Salary: £25,000-£30,000 depending on experience
